If you subscribe to the ancient alien theory, humans already are AI. Not saying I do, but it's interesting to think about. They propose that every few dozen millennia the human population gets reset with an upgrade. That is how they explain our unusually rapid evolution from ape to human. Some even think they originally started life on Earth as a sort of farm or laboratory to create new forms of life from scratch. In their eyes the human body is just a machine for our souls to attach to, and once humanity as a whole reaches a certain point of enlightenment we get another upgrade. Again not saying I buy it but it's interesting.

AI will never be a match for human intelligence because logic is not capable of being accurate all the time in a system designed around uncontrollable variables.

Advance may come faster than we're ready for it, but rarely comes as fast as depicted in fiction.
 
robots are already killing people, not out of some sense of volition, but they are nevertheless.

Don't get me wrong--sooner or later somebody will indeed go there, full-tilt. And, because people are imperfect creatures, someone will screw it up or misuse it massively...
