Steam store not working under Wine?

So this weekend I saw that Doom 2016 was FTP under Steam and thought it would be a great time to try Doom 2016 under Wine using Vulkan. Last time I used Wine things were really simple, install Wine, download Steam.exe for Windows, double click .exe, install Steam, install game under Steam = Good to go.

However now when I install Steam it all installs fine but I get a black screen in the Store, I do some research, add some additional configuration to the launch options:

-no-cef-sandbox

And go from a black screen in the store to a grey screen!

Tried Play on Linux, same deal. Running Wine version:

Is there something I'm missing here?

Honestly.. your not the only one with this issue today (or this week)


i may recommend you give it a try in a browser directly.

i may recommend you give it a try in a browser directly.

I tried the browser directly, I can't download Windows software via the browser as it states 'Operating system not supported'.

Unless I change my user agent..... I might give that a go, although by the time I download the game the free to play period's gonna be over.
