hey all

i just installed steam on my pc to try and get back into cs and half life. i downloaded the steam installer from steampowered.com, ran it, and let it update. the updater finished, and now i can not load steam. i tried double-clicking the desktop icon, and when that didnt work, i tried making a new shortcut with the executable from the install folder. i tried double clicking that, and steam appeared as a process, but there was no window or tray icon, even after waiting for 15 minutes. has anyone else had this problem or have any idea what the hell is going on??? i doubt it is my system, as it ran steam and most steam games like a dream a few months ago. i also doubt my firewall, which is zonealarm, as i have added clauses under the program tab that allow all activity on steam. please help, fellow members of the [h]orde.
 
Kill the process, delete the file clientregistry.blob in the steam dir, re-run steam.
 
Do you have any firewalls preventing it from connecting to the net?
