i have a shuttle and the black drive just doesnt match up to the brushed aluminum on the front of mine. so i want to stealth it and probably will just go with the double sided tape but dont know what to do about the screws since they are too long and it will look stupid without the screws. so i was just wondering how you all did it. any suggestions?

Stealthing DVD Drive

Take that pice of aluminum behind the acrylic and fold the 1/8" flaps off, so it rests flat with the exception of the 2 screws pookin out.
Then dremel most of the screws off.
Then double sided 3M tape the drive door to the aluminum. Mines been like that for about 6 months now.
And this works without taking the bezel off your cd/dvdrom drive.
Only issue is that you have to move the drive back an extra 1/4" and now you have to take the cd/dvdrom dirve out before you can remove the drivecage.
It looks schmoove.

or you could buy a new piece of aluminum, cut it to size put two holes in it, at the same places as the screws (make sure the holes are a bit small so the screws will bite in). just saw the screws down and either put some glue on the other side of them or find some nuts that are the same size and threading.
the rest of what he said above was fine, except that i took the faceplate off the front of my drive before putting the tape on it. u may have to use more tape, but the cover will not be as shakey (mounting it on the plastic cover makes it shakey). on mine (for my ss56g) i even added a hole for the activity led and put some spacers on the bottom corner so the button would be pressed easier. also, i dont have to take out my drive to remove the drive cage. maybe different on different models though.
