Static shock and LCD monitors? any damage?

Hello All,
Just picked up a ASUS 25.5 inch monitor, very nice for the price BTW, anyways while unpacking it and pulling off the film from the front of the monitor I ended up static shocking the monitor. I go out the power cord and dvi and plugged everything in right after. It seems to be fine, it turned on and looks to be working. Long question short does static shocking a monitor have the same effect as static shocking computer parts?

While I'm sure it's somewhat possible I don't think you have anything to worry about. I've shocked my monitors, laptops etc. many times. It happens.
