Hey I just wanted to see if any of yall had a similar problem and had any advice.

I just got my new Logitech Z-5500's in this week and installed them with no issues, they sound awesome 90% of the time. But that other 10% I can hear a slight static noise coming from the left rear speaker. It doesn't increase when I increase the volume and is pretty soft but definitely audible. Its also intermittent not constant.

I rechecked all the connections 2x, swapped out speakers and still had the noise from that channel. I unconnected the speakers from my computer but still heard static even with no signal playing so its not from my sound card. Any advice, I'm starting to worry I will have to send it back for a replacement unit. Is there a source of interference I could look into?

Thanks yall :D

Any electrical cords coming into contact with that speakers wire? Does the sound go away if the speaker in question is moved to another location? Any hi draw electrical motors/devices on the same circuit, (heat, ac, attic fan, fridge, etc.)? Any hi draw electrical devices in close proximity to the speaker in question?

I had a nasty hum that used to come rarely in my 5.1 setup. Our old microwave above the stove on the other side of the wall where the rear speakers were mounted, turned out to be the culprit. When it was in use, my back speakers hummed quietly, but very annoyingly.

You may just have a bad amp. I would look into possible sources of interference, but rma the speakers if you can't find the source fairly quickly. If the static continues after you get a new set, you will know that it is something in your environment causing the problem.

Thanks for the tips, I moved the power plug to the furthest outlet I could reach and tried to get the speaker wires away from any sort of power cable and for now it is behaving, hopefully that is all it will take.
