My hard drive will refuse to boot up the first time when I start up my computer, It will start, then half way through the win load process just click and freeze. Neither the power nor graphics fluxuate or drop, and the CPU fan runs the same all LEDs stay constant light but the hard drive will be a bitch. One might conclude that obviously its the HDD, but upon investigation I put in an old 40giger and it had a similar problem. so I come to you with this, Could both HDs just be borked, is there something about Western Digital Caviars that do this? or could it still be my power supply. Something I noticed my 5+ power is only running at 4.8-4.9. Is this normal? Note that this only happens on a startup a restart it is fine
 
I can't say as it would ever be a problem with Western Digital Caviar drives specifically, but it sounds like a possible error in a boot sector in your Windows portion on your hard drive. If possible, I'd run the repair console for your system and try to fix the master boot volume.

Regarding power though, 4.8 is not that bad for a power drop in a power supply. If it fluctuates alot or goes far below that, then you definitely have a problem in the power supply unit.

Another suggestion (an obvious one though) is to go to the Western Digital site and try to download and run a diagnostic tool for your hard drive. Most of the time, they are fairly good at locating possible problems and possibly fixing them.
