Startup issue (sort of)

I've had the double boot issue for a while on my DFI P35 T2R and while a little annoying, it hasn't caused any problems (I've been running at 3.4GHz for 3+ months with absolutely no issues).

Hey I just got a P45A-S with a Q6600 G0 too! I've got it to 9x334, but the Vdroop is pretty big when I load the CPU.. I increased the CPU voltage in the BIOS to "8" which would be a huge 0.5V increase, but I measured the Vcore with a multimeter to be 1.31V, about 0.09V higher than I saw for the stock voltage. Once loaded it goes down to 1.26V.

Have you guys gotten a non-Fox One program to control the fan speeds? Speedfan only tells me Core temperatures and none of the temperatures reported by the board itself and is blank for both the voltage and fan speed sections. Also, Fox One seems to get these random periodic moments where a reading goes blank (like 0.0V) and sets off the beeping alarm using the PC speaker and I don't know where to turn off the alarm, but that's why I can't use that program. Do you guys have that problem?

Does the Fox One software let you adjust the CPU voltage? That option is greyed out for me.

What other benefits does the new BIOS have other than not having that weird double booting thing? I tend to leave my PC running 24/7 so it doesn't really bother me (don't fix what isn't broken) but if there's something more to it, then fine.

EDIT:
Oh yeah, where in the BIOS do I change the multiplier? I don't see it ANYWHERE, even with C1E disabled.

Hey Palm,

No the FOX ONE software doesn't allow you to change voltage. I will give you the same advice someone gave me and it helped. Unistall that software and do it all from the BIOS! Also if you look around forum there are many helpful hints and overclocking methods that I used and they helped 100%. This is my first machine I clocked and I got as high as 3.3Ghz. In 2 days I will try for 3.8Ghz when I get my Liquid Cooling System hooked up :)

ALSO!!! One thing that helped me stay stable was to make sure you update the memory with the correct VOLTS that it is suppose to use VRAM Voltage.
I have read many guides and methods for overclocking through the years, although not to much gain compared to personal chats with people. I know how to overclock, my problem is with the extras around it such as perhaps still being able to let it throttle down to a lower speed even when OCed, to save power.

I agree with you that the BIOS method is the best for basically everything, and the only reason I had installed FOX ONE is because I reformat after I achieve my OC goal anyway. That way, I can make sure any corrupted data saved while the CPU was in an unstable OC won't live on.

This motherboard's chipset is way too new... I tried the speedfan beta that added support for the P45 and if I run that beta, while it works great, the next reboot will result in no more video signal, and a series of beeps forever. I guess I'll have to wait for post-beta.
