Hello,

I am getting started in networking and finding out more and more that I like it. I took a CCNA course about a year ago, and I am looking to get certified. What testing books and software would you recommend?

I've been CCNA/networking books casually for the past year but now I am seriously looking at networking as a career, what steps/preparation/experience(s) would you recommend to someone who is starting out? I have a job in a local computer store to keep myself up on technology in that sense but is there anything else that you would recommend learning?

Any responses would be greatly appreciated thank you for your time.

Yeah, getting a job is the first step in a real education.
Certification by fire.

I've known quite a few people with lots of networking book knowledge. Frankly they were just as useful at solving problems as someone who had a basic knowledge. Unless of course the problem was one of the ones in the book.

If you want to get some books, the Cisco press series is good. That's what I plan on getting once I get through my McGraw Hill book. Most of the certification kits will come with serveral books as well as some software (such as switch/router sims).
