I got the Sybex book for Security+ and have started to study. So far it seems pretty straight forward similar to the Network+ just covering computer Security. I already have Network+ and know a lot about the field so some of the stuff in Security+ I am already familiar with but there is definitely a lot of new stuff I am going to have to study hard on.

Does anyone have any study tips for Security+

The Sec+ test is totally factoid based => simple memorization will get you thru it.

It was pretty easy if I remember correctly. Read the book and you'll do fine

Sweet. I'm starting my Sec+ studies in September. I'm knocking out the MCSA in 2 weeks (just the 70-291 left, taking on the 15th). And then the CCNA in August (already studying and experience). Then working on Sec+ and CCNA+Security...

i want to do sec + also. just no funds to take the course. i like the sybex book as well.

Seems really easy so far, I am definitely going to have to study the encryption stuff, I have no idea about any of it.

Understanding PKI, and how it works, is the hardest part of Sec+ if I remember correctly. The rest of crypto is just memorization of facts

The test is relatively high level: ie you don't need to know specific details of DES vs AES, just that they are 2 types of symmetric algorithms and that AES superceded DES

I used the sybex book and it's practice test for the 08 exam. The 08 version is a little harder than the old one, being able figure out what right answer they want you to know and knowing the basics of all the crypto schemes is the big part.
