decided to donate my box to science and the horde. Figured I'd stop by and say hi. My system is pretty mild compared to some, but every bit helps I suppose.

the software? I used group number 33 and user name from here :) Do I need to do anything else?
 
No, I mean did you use the classic client, The windows SMP client, or the VMWare Smp client?
Did you add a gpu client as well?
 
oh, I downloaded the first one from the F@H download page. I just saw the high performance computing section at the bottom. Is there another I should use?

You can do much more science if you use the SMP client. We have put together a handy guide to get the most out of your multi core system.

(the classic client your using was built with old P3 and P4 chips in mind)

Also that GTX card can crank out crazy points by using the GPU client here, first one on the list (you can run the GPU client and the SMP at the same time).

If after all that you want to try and get the 2nd core of the GPU going, let us know. But with the stuff I said above, you will get well over 10X the points per day than what your getting now.

Welcome to the [H]orde, good Doctor. Looks like Kendrak has already hooked you up with some leads to get the most out of your rig for folding. You're going to be cranking out great PPD in no time with that GTX295. :D

Yes, please spend a little time reading over the guide for SMP clients, a little hint, VM clients do really well.

And get that 295 cooken! :)

Ideally if you can, run SMP MPICH on your cpu and GPU2 on the 295.

Follow Xilikon's guides, be sure to replace the exe with the "drop in" exe from Stanford's page though (that's the only thing missing in Xilikon's guide because it was written before the exe expired in the SMP MPICH package).

I have a dumb question, will the GPU client use both cores on the card? Or does it only use 1?

Also, is overclocking worth it for folding? Or does it not matter all that much?
 
You have to setup 2 instances on the VC for it to use both cores. And depending on your skill of overclocking, Yes it can be rewarding.
 
You can gain 1k PPD or more per GPU from overclocking, so yes, it's worth it.
 
Hopefully your 295 behaves better than my 2 LOL
Anyways, yes, you can fold on both cores, each one will net between 7000-8600 depending on work units with a very mild oc
