StarCraft 2 Question

So I just downloaded a copy of StarCraft 2, cause my Disc got messed up, I have a legit copy, CD Key, and a Valid Battle.Net account, and it shows SC 2 in my account. So everything should be working. but after I install and try to play, it wont let me. It says its not the right copy or something like that. I can't figure it out, Any ideas ?

I'm trying to reinstall it, and after I do, if it shows me the error again, I will post exactly what the error says, cause I know how explained it was kinda vauge, but its 5am, and I forgot exactly what it said that it wasn't letting me play due to lol

Even though you own a copy, you downloaded a warez copy. They had to make significant changes to the game to make it a warez copy, and the servers can detect those changes.

Go buy another legitimate copy, and it should be fine. Or ask blizzard for a replacement disk. But your trying to use warez right now, and blizzard isnt going to let that happen.

Uhh, don't do what he says. Just download it through blizzard. They have a downloader. I had a hard copy and just entered my key to redownload the game already once.

Log into your bnet account, click starcraft ii, then click windows under where it says download.

FWIW I recently downloaded SC2 with the blizzard DL'er and it was pretty slow until I disabled P2P. Not sure what's up with that, but others seem to have the same problem.

And so now it works perfectly, but one thing I don't understand is, why can I only play the campagin as Terran, and not protoss or zerg ? When I start a new campaign, it doesn't give me the option to select my race, it just automatically starts me as terran. Do I have to beat the Terran campaign first, or are they seriously going to release separate versions for each race, so you have to buy the other 2 versions to play the other two races ?

Expansion packs for the other 2 campaigns. Blizz loves expansion packs and usually adds a lot of content.

SC2 was split into 3 games, not expansions really. The first is only a Terran campaign with full MP options to use all races. This time next year the next game releases, new campaign.. so on and so forth.

This was done primarily to milk the franchise over several years, just like they have with WoW. In a sense they've figured out a way to keep people paying for a non MMO type game by adding tons of content and charge $40-50 for it.

Also for what its worth, my inside source at Blizzard told me that while SC2 was 100% playable and shippable in 2008 (then they tested for 2 years), Blizzard hadn't done much if any content on the other 2 races's campaigns. Building the framework and testing it took several years so if you wanted all 3 campaigns in 1 game regardless of price, it would have taken another 3+ years most likely.. on Blizzard time.

I really don't know what people are so fixated about the numbers of races in the single player. It isn't the first game to take this approach, nor will it be last. At least Blizzard threw in a mini campaign for Protoss fans, and the second installment will be focused on another race. Non Space Marine fans of DOW 2 have to wait until the second installment, which is still a ways off.

Company of Heroes, Homeworld, Dow 2, Dow, Ground Control, World in Conflict and probably more I can't think of right away were all relatively high profile and well received RTS games as well that only had a single faction focus in the campaign.

SC1 and Broodwar had 29 missions each. SC2 has 30 missions.

And yet, people are still complaining about the Terran-only campaign...?

Blizzard usually adds a solid amount of new units and stuff with each installment.

I really doubt they would release another SC2 at $60 that didn't have any extra MP stuff, but had more SP missions.

Generally, they add missions in the expansion, and give each race a few new units and buildings, so there's a reason for people who are mainly interested in multiplayer to pick up the game, thus keeping most of the players on the same version.

SC2 single player has more content than either SC1 or BW. If you factor in the mission variety and sub game mechanics like research and recruting, it's got more content than SC1 and BW combined. To characterize the exclusion of Zerg and Protoss campaigns as some sort of milking tactic is absurd.

Now, if only SC2 had a cool storyline like SC1/BW...

Indeed. SC2 was/is well worth the money i spent on it. I played through the game 3 times, one right after the other. And i don't do multiplayer RTS's, i was enjoying the SP game.

I'm actually learning quite a bit from the SP stuff. Not really the campaign so much as the challenges and upgrades/research. I think it's pretty awesome that they put a section in the game that teaches you what units are good against other units. That can play a HUGE roll in MP.

I think to many players don't want to take the time to learn how the game is played and works, then apply that to a strategy. Instead most players rip open the box, install and go straight into a MP game without even knowing what new units are in the game yet. I admit I did the latter with SC1 but learned so much stuff once I took the time to sit back and actually read/watch videos.
