STALKER patch question

I downloaded the 1.0005 patch thinking it was 1.0006 and I have spent a few hours in single player. I know the game is buggy, and I was wondering if my saved game files would be destroyed if I patch the game. Can anybody help?

I know that previous patches destroyed the game. The game isn't really that buggy, I played it for 80+ hours and have yet to have a single crash. If you want to check and see if you will retain your saved game, back up your save files, have both versions on your computer , go ahead and upgrade and see if it keeps your saved games, if not just downgrade to 1.005 again.

1.0005 games work with 1.00006, so go ahead and upgrade
