Can't believe it hasn't been posted yet, this mod was ranked #1 in the Mod DB database for the last few days. Mod alters difficulty, audio, graphics (featuring a new version of Atmosfear and the most dramatic visual overhaul to date), companion options, dialogue, arsenal, AI, music and a host of other tweaks.

You really need only play for an hour or so before you really start to appreciate the aesthetic touches and the sense of realism the mod creates. You can choose between 3 different classes, each having their own set of strengths and weaknesses. There is a new patch out that adjusts the difficulty (thought by many to be insanely difficult) and adds some minor content. This guy is really listening to his community and I'm giving the game a 3rd replay following my completion of Stalker Complete.

I thought this was going to be more bad news about stalker 2.... thanks for posting!

Just plain stalker for this? or do I need to go through a barrage of updates, tweaks and fixes?

And one more image! Guess my title is a little misleading with all the misery surrounding the development team LoL.

In for one. Thanks OP. I was just thinking about stalker tonight. Can't wait until they release stalker 2. Let's hope it's not totally consolized. I'm definitely playing this.

*edit* just read about GSC Gameworld. Darn it.

Nice, I tried Stalker: COP complete and didn't really get into it. Maby I'll like this version of it.

To be fair I've only completed Stalker SoC with Oblivion lost 2.2 so we shall see I guess...

Shaky breaky Stalker! I will check it out!

Thanks OP

No tweaks or fixes, comes with an installer and a couple of options (FOV for one), just make sure your game is up to date. I can verify it is compatible with Steam and retail. The author has already released a patch for the mod which addresses some community concerns and adds some content, you can find it in the "downloads" section. Make sure you have NO other mods installed, it is not compatible with other mods, I would just delete the "gamedata" folder to be absolutely sure. There are some minor stability issues, particularly with the "quicksave" function (loading quicksaves) and saving with active companions, should be fixed with a patch. Otherwise dismiss your companion, save, and rejoin your companion until the issue is addressed, should you encounter it.

Just played about an hour with this mod. Its so hardcore..... I love it, I've been looking for an excuse to get back into the Stalker games. this is PC gaming at its finest.

Thanks again OP.

Is this mod for STALKER: Call of Prypiat? or any of the three games?

Do you need to install anything but the game and updates?

Looks very nice.

Yes. CoP only.
It comes with an executable so there's no editing or tweaking at all. Just install and play. Really nice.

Get it!!

Thanks, I should have read the posts above.

To be honest, CoP has been difficult for me to get into, I don't know.....maybe it's too wide-open for me.

This modification looks very nice.:D

Once you get passed the first area of the game it gets a lot better. I always thought of the first area as swimming around in a fishbowl.

The atmospheric and game balance changes in this mod look really good on paper. However, it seems like that's all the mod is. After playing CoP several times it's hard to get too excited about a mod that doesn't add or change content as I don't think the content in CoP is all that great.

The Geonezis/Sigerious combination I find more interesting because it adds a fair amount of content to the game. However it's not well balanced and the economy is horribly broken.

I get this flicker/stutter.... very annoying. I know about texture cache stutter...that's been around since Stalker SOC.

This is different. I've changed the settings all around. If anyone has any out of box idea on how to fix it, let me know. If it's obvious, i've tried it. It seems more pronounced with the mod than without it.

Perhaps it's an early 7970 driver issue...

I noticed they moved some of the stashes around, graphics and atmosphere is really good, kinda dark and depressing but in a good way. They are listening to the fans because before the first patch the traders would not buy a weapon unless it was over 95% condition which was ridiculous, also fixed some sounds and other gameplay features. I really like the mod and will do a playthrough until SGM 2.1 is translated over at GSC.

From what's on paper, they've added dialogue, arsenal, armor and the ability to add companions, as well as new music and audio. That's content to me, unless you are referring to new levels or free roam, which can be found in Oblivion Lost and Lost Alpha (not yet released). Sector 32 is the Stalker Universe built on CryEngine 2 and adds entirely new stories, but is in its beta stage and all these mods are based around SOC AFAIK. The ability to choose a character is a pretty cool addition as well, this adjusts the way you will equip and manage your character, thus adding new strategy.

I think with CoP everyone that has played it several times wants new maps with story lines, more side quests, artifacts and things of that nature, at least for me anyways. SGM 2.1 is doing that now by adding 5 maps from SoC with story lines and other content. Here is a little list of what was released with the mod:

There was a continuation of the story in Dark Valley.
• Adapted four locations: Laboratory x18, Military Warehouses, Agriculture & agricultural industry underground.
• There are new quests in the old locations.
• A new type NPCs - the employer. Available only in friplee.
• New models of NPC.
• Added 18 types of weapons.
• Fixed many shortcomings of previous versions.
• And much more.

Im just waiting for a decent translation of the mod. Hopefully in the future Misery could include some new maps and such but im still enjoying it.

Sorry, by content I mean new quests/missions/plot (not necessarily maps but those too). After spending 1 year+ finishing AMK: Narodnaya Soljanka (best stalker mod ever) for SHoC I've been spoiled. :)

SGM for CoP added some missions, the Geonezis addon appears to add more, and SGM 2.1 (just out) appears to add yet more. Those mods look more interesting to me (as I'm sick of the vanilla plot so some extra variety helps a lot). Alpha squads keep you on your toes too. :)

I'd like to see more mods that actually add new content such as new missions myself, but all I've found is Priboi's Story. Where are the mods you mentioned available, and do they have English translations for them?

An update of misery is in development adding M.S.O. - MASSIVE SIMULATION OVERHAUL to the mod. Cant wait to play this version because with MSO alone to the vanilla game brings alot more action to the game with NPC's and mutants. Check it out: http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-misery
