I was going to start a simple cooling loop so I could play the OC game with this one... I've already got a OC'd Xeon on Air...


System:

e8400 (currently stock)
4870 (wanna get an X2)


was going to only cool the CPU with a swift 240, and a GTZ...

but then I thought about cooling the 4870... I figure the 240 won't be enough to cool both.. so I thought maybe a 360... but I want to get a 4870 x2, the 360 won't be enough...


I've got an antec 1200, room for a 360 in the front... could I possible stager the radiators...


360 in front, with fans, and a shroud then on the bottom 2 fans mount the 240 behind the 360? I know it wouldn't be as cool of air.. but it would save me space and if it would be enough to cool the system then I'd go for it.


I've never built or planned a multiple rad system before, and I'd like to keep the tubing to a minimum.


so ya, how much would it effect the outcome piggy backing them like that?
 
Estimates over at XS state that stacked radiators can be almost 50% more effective than a single radiator, for each 120mm slot stacked...

I would assume it would gain you about 500w of cooling, provided the fans are up for the task.
 
Tryin to keep the cooling to a minimum, that's why I went with a dual core instead of quad for now, I just don't know how much cooling I'll need for a 8400, slightly OCed and a stock 4870/x2

would I need a 3x120 and a 2x120? or would 2x 2x120's be enough?

2 240's would suffice, but always fit the most you can It will almost always benefit in the long run.
 
I'm planing to cool both a cpu and gpu with a swiftech 240mm rad. Maybe I can use 2 of them instead. Put them in the front one after another.

Res > Pump > rad > rad > CPU > GPU or

hey Arcy, you got any more info on this? can't quite get it into my head how it helps.
 
I had a 360 sandwiched with fans and a 240 in a single loop...temps were okay but there was a definite rise in temps on the cpu while gaming ...ATI4XXX put out some heat...never affected my oc...but I decided to go with a dual loop setup...some future proofing(if there's such a thing)...make your sandwich if you want...but go dual loop. Seems you have enough room...
