I just got my amd64 3200+ venice up to 2.49ghz, i ran prime95 and it threw an error after 15 hours and 17 min, would this be considered stable? I also am running my vcore at 1.50V and my temps are around 38C under load.

Also this is the error, rounding was .4998779297, expected less than .5, hardware failure detected.... Does this mean that i reached my limit for my cpu, because i really want to get up to 2.6ghz but it throws this error whenever i break 2.5ghz after like 10sec and when i am at 2.49ghz it takes the amount of time listed. Basically i want to know if there is something that could be done about this error so that i can go higher. Let me know, thanks guys.

that seems really really low for a venice to be maxing out at. maybe throw it some more vcore, im sure it will hit 270x10. it just might need like 1.65v. and after 12 hours of prime95, i say its stable and just dont care.
 
as a side note, it may be the ram or HT link.. can you give us a full rundown on every setting you're using?
 
my ram was set at 100mhz when i was doing this, the reason being i was just trying to find the limit of my cpu. I ran the HTT link at 3, 2, and 2.5 to see if that would help and it gave the same result, it threw the error. And i wanted to raise my vcore higher, but i still cannot figure out how to raise it, the only way i have found in my bios is to raise it by a percentage, it doesnt have another way that i can see, does anyone have the MSI k8n neo4 platinum board so they could help me?Please let me know, and so 15 hours would probably be stable enough?

Also is it ok to run that high of vcore, 1.6+V as long as my temps are ok?
 
yea, your gonna hafta use a percentage, just have a calculator there with you, say you set it to 1.5v + 110%, youll get 1.65v, just do 1.5 * 1.1 or whatever the percentage is. and yes 1.6v+ is fine, just keep an eye on those temps. use the htt link of 3, some boards dont have working htt link 2 or even 2.5
 
but the thing is for percents it only goes up to 8.8% and i need higher, but it wont go? Is there a way i can go higher?
 
hmm, thats really weird then, msi f-ed up hardcore for making such a low voltage increaser. uhh i think you might be SOL, unless they made a previous bios with better voltage controls

Yes i know, i am trying to find someone with this board to ask them if they know how, because i really want to go higher, SO IF YOU HAVE K8N NEO4 PLAT PLZ POST.

PS. No one has really answered if 15 hours of prime95 is stable, i think it is, but what does everyone else think?
 
yea after 12 hours of prime, i use prime blend, id say its stable. prime blend is the hardest to pass, and it tests all sorts of stuff in your rig, not just the cpu, its overall stabilty.

12 hours is not enough to prove stability. Can you imagine rendering or compressing an important video project, only to have the app crash after 15 hours due to a CPU error?

Call me hardcore, but I say in order to really claim a stable system you should run Prime95 at each torture test (small, large, blend) for 24hrs each. Yes, that's 3 days of being without a computer - but hey, better safe than sorry.

understandable. i just dont do much editting only gaming adn internet on my a64 rig, and the p4 im using now is my stock and stable editer. you really dont need to do all three though, blend > large > small, and you can do small for 24 hours, then memtest for 24 hours, cause memtest is just like large and then blend for 24 hours for stability.
 
Isnt there anyone out there with a K8N Neo4 Plat that has overclocked??? I need to find a way to raise the voltage more than the percentages displayed, which only go up to 8.8%.

personal preference. i know people who say F prime, and just make sure it won't crash when their gaming. i've been able to do this, and have prime95 fail within 5 minutes. it's really dependant on what you want to do with your rig ;)

I bet those same "F Prime!" people see more random crashes in Windows than the people who've Prime tested their rigs for more than 24hrs.

I don't find the matter as open to interpretation as you're suggesting. I mean, 2+2 should always equal 4, never 4.000000001. Is there really such a thing as 99% stable? It's either stable or it isn't. There's no guarantee that one incorrect calculation will always happen 15hrs after you start gaming/editing/surfing, whatever. It could just as well happen within the first 5 minutes.
