I've had my AXP 2100+ @ 2ghz for about a year now...never had a problem, now heres the story.



The other day i turn my computer on, just another day after class as usual...power comes on, no beep, monitor doesn't come on.

Hit the reset button, same thing

Hold power down and turn it off, wait 2 mins...turns back on, brings me to my bios saying my multiplier & or cpu frequency may be wrong and to fix it blah blah...so i just hit exit and don't change anything...

then the computer starts normally with no problems...

My most recent hardware change was adding another 512 stick of PC2700, other than that its been the same config for about a year. Should i be aware of anything?

Also lately i've been hearing a high pitched sound comming from my computer about 5mins after being on the desktop, then it goes away after about a minute. Never happened before this...

Well, the high-pitched sound is most likely the monitor. That happened to me with an old CRT I once had. It would make a high-pitched sound for about five minutes after being turned on and activated. (A VERY high-pitched sound, like around 17,000Hz, barely audible.) Next time it happens put your ear up to the monitor and see if that's what's making the sound.

Mine did that as well back in the day when i had a 15" CRT, couple of weeks after i heard a lound bang and smoke started coming out of it. I had 2 months left on the warranty :D
