No, it does not affect your video card, only the data transfer between the video card and northbridge.
 
i've asked the same question before, and I'll tell you what I was told. you won't get ANY gains whatsoever, and you also risk frying your card. that's about it
 
on some mobos it can bleed volts over to the NB for higher fsb clocks
