Curious if anyone else is using SSD drives in a ZFS array for home use? Been running all my VMs on a stripped mirror array of 4 Seagate 750GB drives I salvaged from work. Works fine, but with prices dropping I'm really thinking about replacing them with 240 or 256GB SSDs by the end of the year. Right now I could fit all my VMs on 240GB of drive space. With the improved performance I'm guessing a RAIDZ array of 3 drives would still provide better performance than the old mechanical drives...
My only concerns would be longivity and performance degredation from lack of trim, but nowadays I think most drives will do garbage collection on their own right?
