Does partitioning undermine the wear-leveling of SSDs ? Or are there any other ill effects?
 
partitioning shouldnt do anything bad, but formatting will definitely wear down the drive a bit if you do it frequent or transfer large files constantly. If you do this and haven't yet, I'd recommend a Secure Erase using the drives software. Brought my drive right back to the correct speeds from factory.
