I'm assuming you mean "gaming" but I digress.

SSD will be faster than the raptor, but will also cost more $/GB of storage.

Eh, I wouldn't (personally)

I would, however, get one to use as a main OS drive :) Loading the game a few seconds faster than some other schmuck doesnt really matter to me (besides the load times can be welcome at times lol... perfect amount of time to go get a new beer).

with that said, is it worth while to you?

Have you priced SSD?

That might help you put things in perspective.

go SSD, i just switched from 4 x 15K RPM SAS drives to ssds and love it.

The price v. performance of SSDs v. conventional mechanical hard drives isn't significant enough to make it an instant landslide in favor of either side. You'll definitely need to look at the prices before making a decision. In absolute terms, SSDs are faster.

Sometimes load times decrease a lot with an SSD vs a Raptor, sometimes not much, with the latter most likely it's cpu intensive decompression. Framerates will improve noticeably with a streaming game engine, so large scale shooters, RPGs, driving games.

Here's an example of a streaming disk intensive engine:
