SSD nOob...help please....

A few questions.

I'd like to buy a SSD to use for OS primarily. Teamed with normal Sata II HDDs for storage.

First: can I install just the OS and utilities/drivers on the SSD and games and other programs on my "normal" HDD? Is there a distinct advantage?

Second, this would be on an ASUS Rampage IV Formula with Sata II ?

Last: which SSD is the most durable for this use? What size is commonly used?
will I really see an advantage to an SSD?

Absolutely!! SSD's are night and day compared with spinners, easily the bottleneck in todays computers. Access times alone are just one huge advantage. Spinners commonly have ~5ms access time where as a ssd can have ~0.1ms and less. Thats over a whole order of magnitude less. I won't bother going on and on, I'm sure you can google the subject and find a ton of resources about the speed advantages.

Anyway, yes install your os and utilities/drivers on your ssd and whatever your favorite programs/games that you use a lot on it also. Then use your hdd for storage purposes of bulkier files like music and pictures for ex. I personally wouldn't go less than the 120-128 gb size. There is a pretty significant speed difference between that and the say 64 gb sizes. Also get one that uses synchronous nand, you won't regret it.
