SSD KB/Mouse/System Freezes

Interesting HW question for you guys. I recently bought and installed a Kingston HyperX SATA 3 SSD into my Dell XPS 15z laptop (swapped out the optical drive for the original HDD, so running SSD/HDD). SSD is plugged into SATA 3 connection, HDD to SATA 2 connection.

SSD works swimmingly!

Recently however (not totally sure when it started), I've been encountering an issue where use the laptop for any amount of time (generally a few hours) and the touchpad is unresponsive. The keyboard works for about 15-30 seconds, and then it, too, becomes unresponsive. Sometimes the order is switched, that is, keyboard freezes, mouse works for 15-30 seconds, then freezes as well.

Is this an SSD issue? A driver issue? (I didn't update the drivers and the touchpad/keyboard have been working perfectly prior to the SSD install).

A windows 8 issue? (Haven't seen anything to suggest this, since it uses the same core-OS as W7, but I dunno)

Any advice you could provide, or next steps I should take to diagnose this issue would be most appreciated!

Did you have to disassemble the laptop to install the SSD? Pop up the keyboard (some dell models have to)? It is possible that the ribbon cable from the keyboard/trackpad is loose and when it gets hot it expands just enough to lose contact. It is also possible they are just going out of the picture. I doubt it is an SSD issue, but Windows 8 is just a tech preview, there are still lots of bugs and driver problems. If you boot up a linux live usb stick, does the problem go away?
 
hey, so the disassembly just involved popping the back cover off, no messing with the keyboard at all. I'll try opening it up again to take a look, but I don't think that's the issue (could definitely be wrong).

Will try the live usb stick and report back - takes a few hours for any issues to manifest, and I can't really trigger them, so I have no way of telling what the deal is
