Ok. Just installed a new Intel 520 180GB SSD(my first SSD). Formated and installing Win7.

As soon as I install the latest Nvidia drivers, it hangs and never gets into windows...... what the f***?

I currently have mobo in IDE mode for SATA. Is there anything special settings wise I need to do for SSD's when setting one up for the first time? As soon as Nvidia drivers are uninstalled, I can boot into windows fine. Bios settings? Anyone have a clue....

I just took out my 150gb vraptor and installed the SSD. Everything was fine before with the same exact drivers. Its not hardware related.

Anyone have any clue what to do first?

What motherboard do you have? On my particular ASUS motherboard, they recently "Fixed Nvidia GTX 680 hang when running with UEFI driver".

Any special reason to run SATA in IDE mode? SSDs perform better in AHCI.

Its an Asus P8Z68-V LX. Whats UEFI? I dont think I use that. And this issue has to be related to the SSD as I already stated it didnt happen with my raptor.

IDE mode. Nah, just set it in that mode a while back and had it that way for my vraptor.

Yes, you do. You have a motherboard with UEFI BIOS. And looking at the ASUS BIOS page for your motherboard:

P8Z68-V LX BIOS 4003
1.Enhance compatibility with some USB devices.
2.Fixed Nvidia GTX 680 hang when runing with UEFI driver.
2012.10.18 update

I can't properly explain why your old OS install didn't experience the problem and the new install does, but it's too much of a coincidence to not try updating your BIOS.

I am going to update my bios, that definitely makes sense. However, doesnt seem like that would be the issue. I run a GTX 650, not a GTX 680.

I have also since reformatted and reinstalled windows 7 again. I also changed to ACHI in bios instead of IDE. I am going to install newest intel chipset drivers as well. Previously i had only installed from the original CD.

I appreciate those who helped.

Just to update, I have solved the problem. lol. It was a stupid ass issue that I never would have thought of.

Its because I had my HDMI cable plugged into the video card and for some reason it defaults to outputing to my TV source which isnt on. <facepalm> It wasnt really freezing, its just that I couldnt see anything but black.... God damnit...
