Hey everyone,
I am heading toward getting my masters in the information security field and have been looking at getting a new HDD for my PC. I was planning to buy a WD Black initially and loading Ubunutu on it (my other PC just has it running in a VM). But I just want a dedicated linux machine now to get used to it all and don't really plan on running it as a VM.

But now I am considering buying a SSD for this project. What is the recommended size for goofing around on linux and using it for day to day use? Would a 40GB SSD be okay for that?
I've also considered getting a 120GB SSD and eventually turning it into my Windows 7 boot drive instead.

This is the 32nm version of the OCZ Vertex 2 120GB Which shouldn't have the issues that the 24nm versions do. For a while OCZ seemed to be the leader in having the best SSD's around. But perhaps I should look to a different company instead?
What 90-120GB drives would be best?
And what 40-60GB drives would be best?

Thank you, I greatly appreciate your help. This drive would be going into my "Tiberium" rig in my sig.

OCZ never had the best SSDs. They may have had the cheapest SSDs, but not the best. I'd avoid them.

For 120GB SSDs, your best choices are the 120GB Intel X25-M or the 128GB Crucial C300.

For 64GB SSDs, the best choice is the 64GB Crucial C300.

Go with Intel SSDs and stay the hell away from OCZ, they are about the worst company making SSDs at the moment. Corsairs are ok, but Intel will be better overall for IOPS imo.
