Got a older dell with a pentium d 930 and the hdd is going out slowly. I have no real storage needs, less then 5gb of music. Mainly do netflix, surf forums and do misc android rooting on it. Gonna be building a new pc this winter and can transfer the ssd over when ready.

Will use win 7 and wonder what size ssd to get and if its even worth it for now .

Make sure it is a SATA-II/III SSD, do not get a PATA SSD, it will be severely bottlenecked by the wimpy UATA-133 data transfer rate.

Also, for your P3 setup, just go with a HDD, that processor is so weak I doubt it would be able to break even 100MB/s with a SSD, it just doesn't have the computing power behind it. The drives that were meant to be paired with a P3 processor did about 20-30MB/s tops.

If all you do is Netflix and surfing, don't bother getting an SSD at all. You won't see enough difference to be worth the money. Buy the SSD when you get the new rig and prices are lower.
