SSD for laptop - power efficiency

I have a friend that wants to upgrade his spindle HDD to an SSD in a laptop, and wants to focus on power efficiency. He saw that the Samsung 840 250GB is on sale right now, but after reading reviews, sees that the power consumption may be a concern.

I've suggested the following to him:
- Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB (catch it on sale)
- Sandisk Extreme 240GB (right now $160 shipped)

What say ye in the sub $180 range for a 240-256GB?

From what I know, SSD's use a fraction of the power of spinning hard drives.

Even the worst offenders still use ~20% (and often much much less) of the electricity of any mechanical hard disk.

In any case the SSD upgrade may extend your battery life a small amount, but not a large amount. most of the battery power is used powering the screen, GPU and CPU.

Any of those brands look good. The forum likes Samsung, Intel and Crucial and generally encourages people to stay away from OCZ.
 
Samsung 840 Pro is on of, if not the fastest SSD out now and it uses the least amount of power, FYI.
