Is there any advantage in choosing a Marvel based drive over a Sandforce based drive? I know there are other controllers out there as well so was wondering if it makes much a difference these days in terms of stability and performance.
 
It's more than just controllers... some SSD use same controller and different firmware.

All of these + NAND type make a difference.

If you are trying to compare SSD I suggest Anand's SSD comparison tool, and then youcan check the forums for opinions.


Most now would say Intel 520, Samsung 830, Samsung 840 Pro, and 840 'normal' for large SSD.
