hey there guys im stuck at this current stage i recently bought 2 silicon power v60 60 gig ssds i stuck 2 in raid 0 and managed to get 1gbs read speeds my limitation is that the board only had 2 6gbs ports.

i have boughtt a new board gigabyte F2a75M-d3h
and 2 more ssds so now 4 in total

http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4352#ov

this board has 7x6gbs ports i setup raid 0 with 4 same ssds and run atto and i only get 1.2gbs is there a bottleneck somewhere here or is it more likely a settings

here is a benchmark with new board
any help will be muchly apreciated ill be on here for the next couple hours looking for answers

You are probably hitting the max throughput for the chipset.

If you really must have faster throughput, you will probably need to get an actual hardware based RAID card.

Maybe an LSI based card with a 4x or 8x PCI-e interface. You will want to make sure it has TRIM support as well. The more cache the better.

Even the OCZ PCI-e SSDs do not get much higher throughput than what you are getting. And they are basically multiple SSDs running in a RAID configuration.

could you recommend a decent sas or raid card or a mainboard with decent raid controller ??

Get a LSI card like the following:

Although for best random performance you will want to add the BBU and the FastPath upgrade (each run over $100).

If you want a card with fastpath already included the following product includes the that however it does not include the BBU:

On top of this you will need at least 1 SFF-8087 forward breakout cable. 1 for 4 port SAS cards and 2 for 8 port cards (if you want to attach more than 4 devices to the card). These can be had for less than $15 on eBay, monoprice ...
