Hi Folks,

So I went and purchased 2 of the 240 Corsair Neutron GTX SSD drives. The performance is nothing short of amazing so far. Windows 8 installed in 6 minutes and boot time is 7 seconds.

I was wondering if there is an SSD benchmark to see what kind of actual performance I am getting. Any suggestions?

HD tune and CrystalDiskMark are both decent benmarking programs for HDD and SSD

HD Tune shows a detailed graph of what your drive is doing, CrystalDiskMark just gives you numbers.
Give them a shot if you like.
 
Thanks for the replies, I ran HD Tune as well as AS-SSD. Both my drives show 6g connection at bootup, but I am only getting 350mbs read and 245 write. I should be getting roughly 500mbs for both read and write.

ANy suggestions? I have the latest marvell controller driver installed.
 
Just doing more research, and I found the reason. I have an x58 board with a marvell controller. it seems I am hitting the cap as it were because a PCI-e lane is shared.

Really great performance, but could be faster with a newer motherboard.
 
Marvell 6G controllers are crap - nothing to do with hitting caps.
You want the intel controller. One of the main reasons I dumped my x58 system 2 years ago.
 
Right there with you, learned the hard way with the Marvell controller compared to the Intel controller.

Put the drives in the Intel SATA II ports and quit worrying about getting 500+ MB/s since most real world applications will not achieve that for long enough for you to even notice the difference. The reason is most real world applications do not read and write in very large chunks.
 
I am going to be upgrading next year when I can purchase an Ivy Bridge Extreme. Want to get another year out of my current rig.
