spyware at startup - how do I disable?

I've run msconfig and the thing that is slowing down my computer is simply listed as \program\
It is listed as being in hkcu/software/microsoft/currentversion/run
I have tried disabling this many times and it just keeps coming back. I am running winxp.
Does anyone know how I can disable/delete this for good? It is not showing up with antivirus scans or spyware removal. It is bringing my system down to a crawl though, which I can only stop the time after I uncheck it and then its back.

Wild guesses are, do you have system restore on, are you turning off the service(s) in safe mode, are you looking at all of the user accounts on the machine (the user name you are using and the Administrator account at least).

Read through the sticky, it covers all of this and a lot more.
