Spyder3Pro Question

I'm looking for a way to calibrate my 3 monitors, and spyder3Pro seems to be the cheapest way to do that (If there is a cheaper one, please let me know, not sure I want to spend $140 on a calibrator.) However, I've heard that it is a mac only feature, is it true?

Also, can separate profiles be applied to monitors in eyefinity?

I'm organizing the following on-the-fly, so excuse me:

The spyder3 has been tested by TFTcentral: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/spyder3elite.htm - They felt that while it is an improvement over the Spyder2, it is outclassed by the X-rite i1Display2.

First introduced as the Lacie Blue Eye Pro, the X-rite i1display2 is also the hardware equivalent of the i1dispay LT and I'm 99% sure it's also the same as the Colormunki Create ($74.24 on amazon through buy.com ; same price on ebay (Buy.com's ebay store) with 8% Bing cashback). The LT has neutered calibration software, and the colormunki create's package is extremely rudimentary, thus a 3rd party software is required to get decent results (unless you spring for the i1display 2 from the start, reviewed here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/eye_one_display2.htm )

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1521015&page=2 - this thread discusses 3rd party software. In it, the argyll solution (which is already compatible with the colormunki create, claiming it is recognized as an i1display2) is mentioned. Page 1 has a link to a GUI for the displayCAL function in argyll. There are other options as well:

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/diy/813-diy-calibration-overview.html - here is a comparison of some 3rd party calibration software, including colorHCFR, which supports the i1display2 and LT, and may support the colormunki create in the near future (according to its creators).

http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/login.php?redirect=viewtopic.php&t=11436 - this link used to work w/o login... but it details their preference for the i1display2 over the spyder devices. I'd say it is the among the most serious calibration resources available: http://www.curtpalme.com/ChromaPure.shtm - at the bottom of the page there are some very in-depth write-ups... a bit over my head.

My plan: as I mentioned in a thread I linked herein, I'm going to try to use the colormunki create as an i1display2 (on its way from buy.com's ebay store) in argyll or colorHCFR.

I have a pair of u2311h's on the way... if Dell ever sends them, and a few other panels...

Edit: and I don't know about applying separate profiles within Eyefinity, but hopefully that tftcentral review has some info... I'm still in the researching stage obviously - haven't even received the colorimeter.

Thanks for the info.

So ColorHCFR looks like you make the adjustments on the OSD, it just tells you what adjustments to make? That seems multi-dsiplay compatible for sure. Cannot tell if argyll is multidisplay capable or not, even in non-eyefinity.
