We reported on Friday that Gary Forsee, CEO of Sprint Nextel, was expected to step down / get the boot. Forsee made the announcement today, he is indeed stepping down. I wonder what his severance package will be like?

"It is the right time to put in place new leadership to move the company forward in improving its performance and realizing corporate objectives," board member Irvine Hockaday said in a company statement.

and many people at the company breath a great sigh of relief and hope that better leadership shall soon arive (although I think Paul would be a great choice to move us forward)

We've been Nextel customers for a LONG time. Almost since the beginning of DC.

Very sad when Sprint bought them.

I had to call customer service a while back, had a question... I first got connected to Sprint. Outsourced, could tell by the accent. She asked what my problem was, I told her my question, and she said she needed to transfer me. But practically every other sentence she was trying to upsell me. It was ridiculous. Even after she said she needed to transfer me, she kept asking if I wanted this and that. Finally, she transfers me to somebody with Nextel... now, whoever answered, sure sounded like he was in the U.S. At the very least, he had no accent and he sounded normal. I'm not trying to insult outsourced customer service reps, but that's what I felt. And he asked what I needed, and answered me concisely... and that was it.

I miss Nextel. :p

Maybe the nickel and diming schemes of Sprint plans and features will end.

Oh wait....that'd be the right thing to do. My bad.

way too much considering their network needs serious funds dumped into it that will instead make his pockets fatter while unfortunate Sprint/Nextel slaves will suffer from seriously sub par service

Well shit, I guess my alma mater is going to have to find another golden goose to take his place, money raising wise.

It's about time.

He seemed like the right man for the job at the time of the merger, at least, I thought he could've led Sprint/Nextel in the right direction, but that definitely didn't happen.

Hopefully there'll be someone who can get Sprint back on track given there's a lot of potential, especially with WiMax coming up.

People who complain about wait times should STFU. I call them practically every day (it's my job, but we still have to call the same line anyone else would have to) and it's actually getting better. I got through to Ensemble support instantly yesterday.
