This spring I'm hoping to get my system of of the budget gamer catagory. Currently this is what I have:
~ Gigabyte Radeon 9600XT 128mb
~ AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (stock speeds at about 1.9ghz)
~ Asus A7V8X-X mainboard
~ 1 gig PC3200 RAM (one stick Kingmax, the other Nanya (eclipse?))
~ Cheapo mouse and keyboard
~ Massive 19" Dell Monitor (not flatscreen)
~ WD 40gig Hard Drive
~ No sound card
That is what I game on right not. It's not too bad, but I want to start turning things up and have them still run silky smooth. Currently, the plan is to find a deal on a 6800NU. My budget is around 200-250 dollars right now. I'm not building this to get the best 3D Mark score, and I'mnot building this to get the worlds best frame-rates in all games. I want fluid gameplay (60+ fps), and I want to turn stuff onto high settings with various bells and whistles enabled. I don't need more than 12 by 10 resolution, either. What should I upgrade? Like I said, I'm looking at the 6800NU, but I could also get a new mobo and an A64 3000+ or something, provided I find a deal... What would yeild the best performance increase in gaming?
