"Spot" on my screen

Hi guys. After bringing my LCD monitors home from College for the break between semesters, there is now a spot of discoloration on one. It is almost impossible to notice when the screen is mostly black, but very noticable when on white or when playing a game. On the white background it shows up as a bit of a dark spot.

I realize it's probably some kind of pressure that was applied during transit or other damage, but I was wondering if there's any way I can make it better, if not go away completely?
 
They're not stuck pixels. It's more like an area of the screen on which the lighting is just off.
