I shall look forward to August when we will here it'll be pushed into '09. ;) Such is the life of a game.
 
No MP from last I heard. Hopefully thats changed.

Your game will be populated with species made by other people but they arent controlling them.

Considering the scope of the game I dont see how real-time MP could possibly work. Spore MMO?

Watch some of the videos. The game concept is one of the best I've ever seen, and from the content that's been shown it looks like it will deliver.

Is Spore multiplayer? An MMORPG?

The short answer: No. Will Wright describes Spore's on-line feature as Asyncronous Sharing. Spore is unique in that while it has multiplayer elements involved there will be no direct live contact with other players. Players' created content gets saved to a master server and will be downloaded by the client-software of other players. In this way, a player will interact with the content created by another player in a non-intrusive manner.

you may not be far off. most everyone's expectations are HUGE for this game, and i doubt it can live up to the hype.

It is a great concept though, and something everyone will want to try, but SP only? this game is going to one of the most pirated games PC gaming has seen in a long time.
 
it's multi-player "aware"...it populates your universe with creations/creatures/etc from other players, but I don't think it's direct head to head play, last I heard.




Still no date set for the Wii version though :(

Yeah. I must not have gotten the memo. Something about controlling this character doesn't hold much appeal to me. Must be more suited to kids or something.

I'm having trouble thinking of a Will Wright game that bombed so far.

Let's see:

Sims
SimCity

Granted SimAnt/Earth/Copter didn't do amazing, but the track record has been good so far, especially in the casual gamer arena. I couldn't get my mom to play any games, but once she tried the Sims, she was hooked.
 
I'm sort of excited for this as well, I guess.

The game's concept obviously makes it one that won't be easy to pull off, but if there is anyone to do it, Will Wright is that person.

Yeah, you 12 year olds like the blood and gore... this game must be made for infants :rolleyes:
 
They were both awesome series and I purchased them both. I also have copies of SimCity (the ORIGINAL) , SimEarth, SimAnt, SimTower and SimCity 3000.

Lets be serious though... There is almost nothing to support that statement... However, from what I've seen and read, and the success of Wright's previous games, its pretty much going to be successful...

Think about how financially successful the Sims franchise is... from a ton of expansions, every platform that matters, AND cell phones... Yet, an enthusiast's opinion of the game is quite poor... Guess what? Doesn't fucking matter when the same majority that obviously sucked up the Sims, will stick their smelly mittens all over this game... Even if most / some of us here might think it sucks :p ( edit: I just wanted to say, I'm really looking forward to this game. )

The hype reminds me of Black & White, which also had very high expectations that ultimately were not met. Though, to be fair, Molyneux is no Wright.
 
I doubt the game will bomb, this has similar benefits as other Will Wright games, in that it appeals to more or less everyone thats interested in gaming. It doesn't require decent reflexes or any strategy, like the sims it's sort of muddle through and enjoy yourself which makes it great for people of all ages, of all levels of gaming experience, and probably even more evenly across the sexes (male/female)

I'm not convinced I'm going to like all the stages, in fact when you reach city level I suspect I'll be less interested in comparison to the actual biological evolution of your character which takes place in the 2d cellular level and moves throught the ocean to land.

This game will rock. Hopefully it'll be the most fun since AOEII :)
 
im trying to remember the last time a game was hyped this much and didn't stink
im looking forward to seeing it, but hype means nothing to me any more.
10 disappointments for every success.
 
I am still very excited about this game. However, last time I got excited about a 'god' game (Viva Pinata) I felt like it didn't deliver - except to my sister who played the shit out of the game.


But I still want!!!
 
Ive been lookin at this game for months. I think its goin to hit big when it comes out.
