So I got Spore over the weekend. When I load up I pause the WU so I can resume when I exit.

I don't think Spore lets go of the shaders. ETQW does the same thing if I crash in it. My 260 gets me ~7k ppd. After playing Spore without a reboot 500 ppd :eek:

Anyone else have this, or know a solution besides a reboot? :confused:

I've got a similar issue with BF2 if I don't close the GPU client for my 8800gtx. Leave it open and something nasty happens. Whether it's a BSOD, terrible performance, whatever... I need to close the GPU before gaming, else a reboot.

CPU client on the other hand is no issue. I loose a few FPS while gaming, but nothing serious.

There was one combo of drivers/core that played nice enough together that you could game and still fold, albeit at a reduced rate, and everything went back to normal after you closed the game, but I forget what that combo was. Nothing seems to play nice together anymore. I forget to pause F@H about once a week, and bsod every time.

I have heard of constant crash with spore on both the mac and the pc. Best of luck with it. I think turning everything off before you play would serve you best and then restarting the programs when done playing and see if that makes a difference otherwise i would just plan on doing restarts.

You seems to have a issue : You are gaming too much, let the games gather dust and you will be fine ;)

:eek::D

Is the game good? Worth the purchase?

The game is good, just not a standard RTS or RPG

It is a weird mix of them with a kinda fluffy-ness thrown in (like many other Sim games)

So far I like the first 1/2 of the game better than the last 1/2, but you can play any part of it independent from the whole story.

Good game, and fun (for me YMMV)

I agree, my favorite part of the game is making creatures in the editors!!
