Splicing a fan controller

Since spent all my money on a new GPU and Mobo I've had to utilise the fans from my Antec P182 to set-up my cooling in a decent way.

I have one colling the HDDs and PSU, one pulling in air from the bottom/front, one exhausting it at the top/rear, and a Noctua 2000 on my heastink blowing the air out of the top vent.

The bottom/front fan was originally where the Noctua is now blowing, so I had to move it from the its original place, the problem is that the fan controller (3 speed switch) had to be disconnected from its housing on the case. In the interest of vanity and OCD, I now want to extend the wires on the fan controller by about 40 cm so it can be housed in its proper places.

There shouldn't be any problems with splicing some more wire in should there?

I just want to be sure before I head down to Maplins tomorrow.

N.B - It will be sleeved and have some heatshrink tubing applied to the ends of the sleeving. The splice will be secured with electrical insulating tape.
