Has anyone thought about adding a spell checker to the forum? would that add a large load to the server? It wouldnt have to be automatic just a button to press if you want to do it.

I know it is possible my school e-mail system has it built in.

Your school lets you email...

Seirusoly man, sum peepoel jsut nead two lern who too spel rite!

I don't think that is really necessary. This isn't a formal setting where you will be marked down for a typo or something. If a person can't spell in the first place then a spell checker won't help much. Hell I saw someone today spell subtle as suddle. How many spellcheckers would pick up on that? Took me forever to figure out what the hell he was trying to say.

I checked dictionary.com, and the top 30 suggestions were a complete miss on that.

Additionally, spell check won't do squat for lousy grammar. I saw someone talking about Lance Armstrong "buying his time" until later stages. Perfect spelling, utter nonsense.

General intelligence is a far better solution than a crutch that does little more than provide a false sense of security. "Marry hat hey lid tell lam, ids fleas woes wide has know."

It's "biding his time," right? I used to think "all intents and purposes" was "all intensive purposes."

We don't need a spell checker. Hell, a lot of the internet is spelled wrong anyway. :D

If you are worried about your spelling, cut and paste it into Word or something. I'm never going to criticize someone on their spelling, unless it is horrendously bad (or you suck at grammar, in which case you're screwed ;)).

Well, a lot of misspellings are becoming internet lingo. Plus, malapropisms are just plain fun! :D

A spellchecker would butcher tech terms and internet speak. More of a pain if you ask me.

Then get a mac.

All you have to do is RIGHT CLICK. Yes, thats right, right click on a mac

I am not saying that is would make people who are stupid be able to spell like that kid that fainted on tv. I am just saying that if you see how many posts have a title on the bottom that says edited and "reason: stupid spelling mistake" it would appear people do care more about their spelling.

We have this course mangament software that ruuns off a server in my school it has e-mail built in which is unrestricted but the only thing is in theory any of the admins can read it. Also it has a chat feature built in but it is currently disabled.

If you saw the picture you would know why he did that. The pic was of the word seriously mistyped and him right clicking on it and spelling corrections coming up.

Yes, I gathered that. I was being facetious.
