The Winner and Undisputed Champion of the Race to 2 Million:
jcarver81

In a vain attempt to block jacarver81's epic zig zagging to the finish, the [H]orde chant:

Mow his Ass! Mow his Ass!

Really? I'm the small child with black holes for ears? I sure think a lot of you too

;)

Man, talk about battle fatigue...

Looks like everyone slowed down. Some more than others.

Man, look at jcarver81. It is like he blew his wad and gone completely limp! Mind you, he did reach the goal 1st :D Timing is everything.

Guys, we still have 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and more importantly we have yet to get to 8 million!

[H]arder!

8 mill is a ways away......i'm still game for that......temps are finally down (ambient) my room has yet to surpass 70 today, it is actually 3 deg. colder now than when i woke up :D You know that that means this weekend Speedy ;)

I'm not completely dead. I have a 2684 that will finish in just under a day and a half and the only other points I have coming in are from my 9800GT and my slow ass HTPC which nets me 6k PPD at most.

I kinda wonder if I would be better off running 4 of the uniprocessor clients on the quad core HTPC since it's so slow anyways... any ideas?

If you're getting 6k from a Phenom 9600 I would say you're doing good. I have a Athlon 635 that usually only gets 3-4k. And running uniprocessor clients would really kill your ppd. Probably be around 1k running 4 threads.

Well, I have reached 2million...

I put all my 7 clients with -oneunit so that I can actually shutdown every boxen I have for the night.

They deserve a rest.

Starting them up again tomorrow when I wake up.

With these 670X's I'm only getting about 2-3k a day. I was just wondering if from a science standpoint it would be better to run 4x uniprocessor instead of a single SMP that takes 2 days to finish a unit.

Tobit knows significantly more about this, but I have seen him say that if your system is SMP capable, you should run the SMP client. Not totally sure why as there seems to be a lot of uniprocessor work to be done, but that is what I have seen previously.

I apologize for missing the update yesterday. I was away all day with no access to the internet.

So today's update is still correct, but yesterday's numbers are just the average of today's and day before yesterday's numbers.

I finally managed to get 2nd place, so now there is the very important battle for 3rd and 4th!

I thought hiode would have finally managed to pass W.Feather, but he managed to do a course correction and maintain his lead.

We now have a new race!

You two aren't done YET? I kid, I kid :D

I just dropped a bigadv so the push to 8mil total should get a nice bump.

jcarver81, that is awesome. I am really looking forward to getting to 8 million. I think that is a great group objective. I am happy to be part of an 8 million point team.

On the other hand, i have to ramp up soon, after a bit of a rest...reason? Revenge lol

SpeedyVV i turned my "farm" back on ;) he was catching up big time because I turned folding off on both machines :D

Man, after 1 month of competition, we might end up with a dead heat!

We have made it to 8 million points!!!! I think it is amazing ramp up for this group to have folded another 4 million points so much quicker than the initial 4 million points! Science wins this one!.

I have a feeling tomorrow the race will be over with a tie, and the tie breaker will be needed to determine the winner!

20101109.jpg

To recap: if both have made the 2 million point mark at 1pm. The winner is the one with the most points.
However if both have the same points, then hiode will be the winner due to starting with a lower points than W.Feather.

Woohoo for me with the handicap!! It is getting a little too close for comfort though, especially since my i7 860 was down all day today due to my office being ~85 F. I'm going home though, so its back up and running through the night.

I don't think I will catch you W.Feather! Nice morning for you so far, almost had me thinking I would win.

Well, the race will be over at 1pm for sure. You are both over 2million.

:)

I pulled what the Globe trotters do in Futurerama......let them get up in the 1st half, then smack down in 2nd !

Nice work guys!

So, I have a story... sooooo glad this happened now and not when we were in the middle of the 2mil race.

So I come home from work last night to find my machine hard locked and when I turn the monitor on it's a nice fat BSOD. I reboot and go to start Windows and it says "No boot media found.." I scratch my head and think.. wtf?

At this point I reboot and Windows starts right up. Again.. scratch my head.. wtf? I start up FaH and it resumes my 2685 with no problems. Walk away to get a drink.. come back and ANOTHER blue screen.

Reboot, "No boot media found.." ???????? Reboot, Windows loads yet again and everything seems OK.

Then I get a notice on my toolbar. Intel Matrix Storage Console. "Your RAID array has failed" Uhhhh yeah I'm running RAID-0 if it failed wouldn't it just not work? Just as I finish this thought the machine BSODs yet again and I'm back to square one.

Sooooo I find a spare 160g drive, install Win7 and boot up. I'm able to get to most (if not all) of my data from the RAID array and I copy over my FAH folder and continue folding while trying to recover the rest of my data! It's going to be a LONG day.

Moral of the story. Make sure you backup your data if you use RAID-0!

Arrrrgh!!! Nice work W.Feather. I had a 6701 get turned in 30 min ago, but that apparently isn't early enough to count on this update. Either way you would have had me by 3-4k. Congrats to all for making it!!!

EDIT: We've actually both passed Speedy...so does that mean we win? :)

It is OVER!

After almost a full month of fierce competition we have the results:
1st jcarver81
2nd SpeedyVV
3rd W.Feather
4th hiode
