Speedstep vs Asus six engine software

I looked through the previous threads on Speedstep, and most of the discussions centered on leaving it on or off. My question centers on the pros and cons between Speedstep and Asus' own energy saving software. Has anybody disabled Speedstep and used only the energy saving program that came with their motherboard? One advantage I see with the Asus program is that I have more control, but other than that, just wanted hear other people's opinions.
 
You can't overclock when you use the EPU 6 Engine software which makes it pretty much trash.

Speedstep on the other hand works perfect no matter what, keeps my Q6600 down at 2.4 at idle, which coincidentally is it's stock speed.
 
There's no advantage to having control over what how low you can get your CPU to go at idle, other than being able to make it go lower than FSB * (Minimum CPU Multiplier), which is what Speedstep does. At that point, you have to ask yourself "Why do I need to go lower than that?" You don't. And if it's a matter of wanting to control the CPU so it doesn't go down that low when at idle, what's the point of that?

Basically, Speedstep works just fine for what it does. There's no need for anything else.
