Not sure. Its different for just about every board. My guess would be the external temp of the CPU or a sensor on the mobo.
 
It's probably a sensor on your motherboard. What motherboard do you have?
 
Wouldn't have a clue what the motherboard is. Its the stock Acer Aspire 3680 mobo.

What's the ideal temperature for a laptop cpu?
 
I'm not an expert with laptops, but it's usually different for every laptop.

The temps you gave seem to be fine to me.
