Speedfan wrong readings?

Ok speed fan has to be wrong or my mobo is just reporting it wrong..
My system was running at 101c yet getting 57fps in EQ2? Everything inside my case is cool to the touch. In fact I would say it's the coolest I have ever felt it. The system has no signs of being unstable and room temp is about 70degs. If I drop from WindowsXP to the bios my cpu is 25c. Even my Zalman tower is cooler then normal.

I just added a new case, fan, mobo and CPU
Mobo - PC-Chip A21G
CPU Athlon64 3700+ San Diego
Fan - Scythe S-FLEX SFF21D (800rpm) 120mm
ASPIRE X-QPACK

I'm cooling with a Zalman Res1 Plus which kept my Barton 3000+ cool as can be for 7 months.

I'm worried I might toast my new mobo and cpu. Anyone have any suggestions?
 
My first suggestion would be to get a new program. Might I suggest maybe Everest Home Edition, SiSoft Sandra, or MotherboardMonitor 5?

If none of those give you more "correct" information, I would say you have faulty sensors, but I have had problems in the past with Speedfan detecting temperatures wrong.
 
Personally I'm impartial to speedfan... it's by far the "least bloated" of any of the solutions mentionned above. What does the BIOS say? Generally the BIOS runs your CPU at 50%, generating a little heat.


Also, during a stresstest/game open your case up and feel the HSF unit. Is it warm/hot/cold? If it's cold or just slightly warm, I'd try re-seating the HSF on the processor with some AS5.
 
I found the problem. Something I should have done 1st but didn't (check for bios update). It seems PC chips had a problem with temps reading wrong with this mobo. There is a bios update to fix the problem. :eek:
