SpeedFan Question

Using the latest beta of SpeedFan (4.34 beta 37) and I can't figure out why I cannot adjust (manually or dynamically) the speed of my heatsink's fan. I'm using a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, with a Panaflo FBA12G12H1BX (103CFM, 120x120x38mm, 41.5dBa) fan on it. The fan has a 3 pin connection (red, black, and yellow) and is connected to the four pin CPU_FAN header on my P5B-E motherboard. I have disabled the CPU fan warning so the computer will run without the fourth pin being connected, but I'm not sure if thats part of the issue with the speed adjustment or not. I've poked around in the Advanced tab of SpeedFan and adjusted the PWM mode, but that doesn't seem to make any difference since I believe my fan isn't a PWM fan (I could be wrong, I'm not experienced in this sort of thing).

So, barring spending any more money on a) PWM Fan or b) Fan controller, is there any way to get SpeedFan to properly adjust the RPM of the fan in question? (Note: The chip says "Winbond W83627DHG", which isn't in the compatibility list for SpeedFan, though my motherboard is listed as one that can adjust fan speeds...)

Help! I've also tried controlling it through Q-Fan in the ASUS BIOS, but that doesn't work either. I'm really at a loss here.

Put it into another 3 pin fan header. If that doesn't work, put it in another one. The Asus Maximus Formula, at least, won't let you control a 3 pin fan from the 4 pin CPU header, as well as from the PSU fan header, but it will let you from all the other headers.

Wow, thanks! I plugged it into CHA_FAN1 and it instantly dropped to a much lower RPM and is now much quieter! I still would like the option to ramp it up using SpeedFan, but it doesn't seem to want to detect the CHA_FAN1 header on the motherboard. I'll try different connections until I find something that works though.
