SpeedFan Question

Since I've never bothered using it but am considering I have a question:

Will SpeedFan override the BIOS mobo settings and allow me to adjust the CPU cooler fan somewhere in-between?

I've got a Zalman on there and my temps are great, but there's only two settings in my BIOS for fan speed control for fans plugged into the mobo: high/low, and high is insane. So I have it set on low. Would like something in-between if/when I ever need it.

Any known conflicts when using progs like RightMark for CPU etc.?

Oh, and I'm running an Intel 975XBX2 mobo.

I've also tried the Zalman speed controller, but that gets plugged into the mobo, which then in turn is controlled by the BIOS speed settings, so I cant adjust the fan's speed.
