yo. the other day i was trying to monitor my system and cpu temps with any software monitoring program i could find. i heard about speedfan so i downloaded that, but when i used it to check my cpu temps, it said it was idling at 52C. this cant be correct cuz i went into the bios and it said it was idling at 34C. my mobo is the am2 foxconn 590sli board and my cpu is a amd 4200x2 with a zalman 9500 cooling fan with some AS5. is there anyway to fix this? cuz i would really like to see what my temps are under full load cuz using the bios gets annoying. ive heard about ntune but not sure if my mobo supports that

I'm having a similar problem.

I've been using OCCT to make graphs of power supply voltages of various power supplies that come across my desk. I use Speedfan as a backend to it. I'm also using nTune/nvMonitor.

In the past--with other builds, other boards--OCCT has worked entirely fine--I'm pretty sure my problem lies with Speedfan or whatever method it uses to detect temperature and voltages.

Anyway, Speedfan detects my CPU temp at about 53 deg C idle. It reports Vcore at 1.28 V, +12V at 8.61 V, and AVcc at 3.3 V.

The temperature, while incorrect (a quick shutdown and boot into the BIOS shows in the 40s), is somewhat hot but acceptable. I know I need better cooling in this case, so that's a work in progress.

However, the +12V rail has got to be reporting erroneously, as well. I've tried three different PSUs (Zalman 500W, Ultra X3 600W, Antec TP Quattro 1kW) and they all show ~8.6 V in Speedfan. Additionally, where's the 5V rail? I've not a lot of experience with Speedfan's inner workings, so I could have it misconfigured.

MBM doesn't have a preset for my motherboard, and I don't have money in my budget for Everest.

Ideas?

System: Foxconn C51XEM2AA, Athlon X2 6000+, 2x2GB GEIL DDR2 800 MHz, Foxconn GeForce 8800 GTX, Samsung SATA HDD, Plextor SATA DVD burner, Realtek RTL8185 wireless, and the aforementioned PSUs possible. Other devices: one CCFL.
