Speed up older pc???

I got a older pc for free today and it should be relatively fast but it's alot slower then the laptop I recently had. I need some help on getting this thing to run faster. Turning it on takes quite awhile and sometimes the internet runs really slow.

It has win vista 32bit I believe home basic on it, here is a link to a cpu z screenshot that shows the cpu. mobo, ram and such for you guys.

I would appreciate it greatly if you guys can help me get this pc running like it should be. It has a 3.0ghz pentium d dual core cpu in it but it's running slow. I don't have any cash to burn right now so I need some free ways to speed her up. I haven't done anything like this in a long time.

I can take pics and upload them if you need pics of anything certain that will help out. First thing I did was install avast run that and delete 9 viruses lol, then I deleted norton antivirus.

Unfortunately, that is about as fast as you can get with that PC short of wiping out the hard drive and reinstalling Windows and its applications software and drivers. The Pentium D was not a very good performer even as a dual-core CPU. And although your CPU is a 65nm Presler it still runs relatively hot compared to its Core 2 Duo successor. As a result, that system is very inefficient for its performance.

Other than that, you should download and install MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware software (this is a free download from MalwareBytes' Web site, although MalwareBytes also sells a paid version of the same software with added features). Run the anti-malware program when you start Windows in Safe Mode. Select Full Scan before running the test to make sure that you pick up every piece of malware it can find. After the scan finishes and you delete or quarantine the malware, restart Windows in Safe Mode again and then run the program again to make sure no malware remains.
