Speed Strip= easy pinmod?

What the hell? Their instructions show the stepping of a Week 09 Barton 2500+... that's already unlocked.

I have an AXDA2500DKV4D, so it says it would work for mine, but I'm very skeptical because I've heard these things are perma-locked.

I'd buy one if I knew it would work though.
 
Ah..... I continued reading the article...

Please note, AMD is beginning to ship newer Athlon XPs locked from the factory and the Speed Strip fails to unlock them. There is an excellent article on this here that has a lot of useful information including how to identify if your processor is one that is affected. They also discuss possible work arounds. In the meantime, we are going to continue to look into this and will keep you posted.

heh. Right. a) they'll never do it... and b) They want 14.95 for that? NO WAY.
