A speech recognition software vendor has just released a beta version of its new software for mobile phones. The demo version of Vlingo FIND is available to use until mid-November. The company is calling it a “breakthrough,” you can download the program for free and see if it lives up to the hype.

Vlingo calls its Find speech recognition software a "breakthrough" for mobile phone users who want to free themselves from "tedious triple-tapping" when searching or downloading content on their phones. Other vendors offer speech recognition for mobile phones, but Vlingo's software doesn't limit users to a predefined list of words.

Well from their pages, it seems they only support SPRINT right now.

To me, that's about as helpful as J-Lo's ass on a landmine.

Pretty to look at, and completely friggin useless.

Bah. I think that would help the world immeasurably. But only if it exploded. ;)
I like the idea for a speech-recog program that isn't limited to a library of words. I like being able to swear at my phone. :p

Great idea, but they don't seem to support much in the way of carriers or phones?? :p

See you later Vlingo.

great, so in addition to yapping away on their mobiles, people are now going to talk TO their mobiles... I predict a future, where peace and quiet will be expensive luxuries.
