Hey, i have enough money right now to bye EITHER some ne speakers (Logitech's Z-2300 is what i am looking at) OR a new sound card (Audigy ZS Gamer or X-Fi ). I need some new speakers cuz right now i am using a personal CD player car addapter (uses headphone jack and turns into a tape) and playing it through my OLD Magnavox AZ 8050 boombox, has fairly good bass, but it is really muddled at high volumes. And i want a new sound card cuz i DO NOT like my onboard sound. Could somebody plz let me know which one i should get first, or wait a while and get both at the same time, and yall's opinoins on the cards and speakers i picked out and whitch would be better. I do a little bit of everything except record. I listen to a lot of music, play LOTS of games, and watch LOTS of movies if that helps you at all. ;-) Thanks.

I noticed that the speakers don't sound good until you get a sound card.

and the soundcard won't do much good without the speakers......

I'd be willing to bet that your existing speaker setup is a greater bottleneck than the onboard sound. Get speakers first and go from there.

From the computer, into a headphone jack, into a casset adapter, into a boombox? Yikes!

Personally I would get speakers right off the bat. How much are you looking to spend all in all. Right now, because the Creative Labs X-Fi has been released, the older generation is going for a cheaper price.

Your best bet is to try and see if you can listen to the speakers first and see how they sound (I know this is very hard, because most places don't have computer speakers setup).

Also, what part about the onboard audio don't you like?

Lastly, do you really want speakers, or are headphones an option? These are all things to consider if you hav'nt already.

~Hope this helps

Hey, i have a price budget for bout $400 for BOTH speakes and sound card, so, since i already have like the second best video card for PCI slots (128mbRadeon 9200) and my comp doesnt have an AGP slot, much less PCI-E, i think i will get the X-Fi Fat1ity FPS sound card ($280) because it has that nice extra 64 MBs of X-Ram, so.......................... ;) and i am still unsure of the speakers.I want a 2.1 for now, not a whole lot of space right now. I have always liked Logitech, so i think the Z-2300's
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836121122 ) are a good choice for me. :) but i have also heard theat the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 r also very good
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836119101 ) and Altec Lansings's MX5021 2.1
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836113139 ) also have some very good reviews. so.................. any other hints\tips u could give me would be appreciated!

Your welcome.

I think you made the wise decision seeing as how you are on a very tight budget.

~Good luck
